7 Reasons For Outsourcing Today

One of the biggest mistakes I see so many online businesses make is they’re just not outsourcing work to others. Instead they have any one or even all of these excuses (yes they are excuses!)…

  • Outsourcing is too expensive
  • I can’t afford to outsource anything right now
  • I don’t trust anyone else to do the work as well as I can
  • By the time I’ve explained what I need doing to others I might as well have done the work myself.
  • I don’t need any help

The problem is on the face of it these excuses seem straight forward enough but I’m about to give you 7 great reasons why you should be outsourcing today which blows everything I’ve listed above out of the water!

  1. Outsourcing gives you more time to spend on doing the things you’re good at or enjoy doing the most in your business. (This reason is all about improving your lifestyle).
  2. Outsourcing (when done right) can make your business a LOT more money with a very small investment
  3. Outsourcing can help your business grow at the rate you choose
  4. Outsourcing gives your business more credibility (especially when you can say you have a team of 10 people working for you)
  5. Outsourcing gives your business more creative juice (you can tap into fresh new talent that can give you the competitive edge you need)
  6. Outsourcing gives your business greater leverage, for example when you get busy you simply hire more people to take on the extra load. You can also leverage the talent and expertise of experts to help you grow your business.
  7. Outsourcing means you can complete all those projects you started but didn’t have time to finish.

If you’ve not started outsourcing yet, what’s “really” stopping you?

Lack of funds? (you can hire highly qualified personal assistants for just $3 an hour)

Lack of expert knowledge (you can find experts in any field)

Lack of trust (Our new OutVeo software gives you the tools to manage every detail of every project you give to your workers and we give you a free 30 day trial).

So there you have it… 7 reasons why you should be outsourcing today!

Hi Brian,

Will OutVeo be a project manager only or will this include instruction examples and questionaires that we can use as templates for employing the VAs

Thanks
Bojo

Brian Terry says:

Hi Bojo – thanks for your message. It will be both a project and outsource worker management system. You can easily set up task training templates for VA’s to follow.

The way it’s set up is so you get to be really specific about what you want your outsourced worker (or VA) to do for you.

This leads to better results for your because communication is clear and expectations are set. By using the checklist system built into OutVeo with your instructions you can get an overview of the progress of every task assigned. I hope this helps.

when will this software service be available and how much will it be? how will it help me plan and carry out the outsourcing of my software/app development projects? thanks

Hi Nate – thanks for your message. OutVeo should be ready for public release in a few months time.

OutVeo isn’t designed to help you manage out-tasked (highly skilled, specialist) workers and projects where you’re dealing with highly qualified specialist professionals like programmers or website designers.

OutVeo does cover basic project management in the pre-release version, but it’s main strength lies in how it helps you to instruct and communicate to your outsourced workers what it is you want them to do (it’s ideal for managing and assigning the labour intensive or repetitive tasks you need doing within your business).

In addition to this OutVeo helps you to keep a birds eye view on what your workers are working on, how much they’re being paid, how good they are and how near they are to completing the tasks you give them.

For the management of programmers who don’t usually need to be shown how to do specific tasks I recommend using Redmine which is specifically designed to help you manage teams of software developers.

Based on my own experience people don’t outsource for one of two reasons: Control or fear.

Until recently I held on very tightly to both “reasons” for not outsourcing. I did have a few negative experiences in the beginning but that is mainly due to the learning curve.

Currently I have a VA who is working on site changes for me, creating others and he’s working out great. He is very dedicated.

I chose to hire a full time person rather than on a project by project basis. I can help him to grow through training and keep that asset for as long as he remains in my employ.

Brian Terry says:

Hi Scott – Thanks for your message! You’re absolutely right about control or fear. Once you let go of a few things it becomes easier and you’ll wish you outsourced sooner.

I like your approach to hiring someone full-time and working with them to help them achieve their own goals. I’m certain that doing this will turn them into a long-term and valued member of your team.
