Workaholism Is Stupid

Speaking from personal experience of this very odd part of our culture I’ve got to say that workaholism is stupid. But for some strange reason is actually celebrated.

The belief goes like this… if you work long hours you must be super-productive and therefore a “hero” of the workplace.

Sadly this just isn’t true, all it really means is you just work more. Not to mention it’s totally unsustainable and leads to you just burning yourself out.

There’s a real tendency for workaholics to actually create more work for themselves to justify working long hours (so they can then be seen as heroes). If it means creating problems where none exist they’ll do it, even on a subconscious level without realising it.

Often times the way they work is whenever there’s a problem they use the brute force of “extra hours” on the job to get it done. Then they make those people who don’t put in as many hours feel bad because they aren’t also putting in the extra hours.

The reality is you don’t have to be a workaholic (it is stupid) instead use intellect and creativity to get things done quicker and more efficiently.

This is why I like hiring outsourced workers, they’re never workaholics (at least in my experience). They know they the quicker they get something done the sooner they’ll get paid. Simple.

One of the best ways of managing your outsourced workers is to use our OutVeo outsource management software. Within OutVeo you can track the progress of every task and ensure everyone gets paid as soon as the work is done.

If you don’t have OutVeo working for you in your business yet .
